GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. —Three firefighters are injured after the firetruck they were in overturned, according to the Greensboro Police Department and Guilford County EMS.
Officers said they were called to the incident shortly after 3 p.m. near the 4200 block of Hamburg Mill Road.
Police said the firetruck is from the Summerfield Fire Department. They reported that the truck ran off the side of the road and into a ditch. The tanker has been removed from the ditch and is now returning to the station for assessment.
A spokesperson with EMS said multiple units responded to the scene, and minor injuries were reported for all three firefighters on board. One firefighter was transported.
There are no further details available on what led to the incident, but EMS officials stated that the truck was not on a call or responding to emergency traffic. Crews on the scene told WXII that the truck was involved in training with a live burn earlier in the day and was en route to refill the tanker when the crash occurred.
We have reached out to the Summerfield Fire Department for more information.
