A ladder truck from the Gaithersburg-Washington Grove fire station flipped on its side as it responded to a house fire this afternoon, sending three firefighters to the hospital for observation and snarling traffic at the intersection of Montgomery Village Avenue and Stedwick Road. The firefighters were expected to be treated and released, Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Pete Piringer said. The accident occurred around 4:45 p.m. as the truck, Aerial Tower 8, headed to a house fire on Friendship Place in Gaithersburg, Piringer said. That fire was minor, he said. No other vehicles appeared to be involved in the accident; crews were still on the scene trying to determine what happened.
