ANOTHER TRAGIC LOSS FROM FIREFIGHTING CANCER-MORE THAN ONE THIRD OF THIS FD’s FF’s ARE DEALING WITH CANCER

While we (logistically) cannot list all job related cancer line of duty deaths from Firefighting, we do want to take a moment to express our condolences in the very sad passing of Seattle FD’s Battalion Chief Dave Jacobs, who has died from cancer. Dave was a major player in fighting for the rights of Firefighters and their families-related to cancer. Cancer is a presumptive disease for Washington State Firefighters, and more than a third of Seattle fighters hired before 1977 have developed some form of the illness. Take a moment to understand how serious this issue is for all Firefighters and what the Firefighters in Washington State did, with Dave’s help: http://www.seattlepi.com/local/412118_jacobs13.html
