On behalf of Chief Jamie Rosseel, Ladies Auxiliary President Nancy Migliavacca, we collectively would like to offer a sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you who offered support to our Organizations. The support has been overwhelming to say the least and by all of you being there in our time of need has been absolutely wonderful.
We have suffered a tremendous loss of a caring and dedicated member. Michelle Smith will forever hold a special place in both of our Organizations. Funeral details are complete and will be emailed out later today and posted on our web site at www.dcfc15.com.
Unfortunately we received more bad news. On December 22nd, Our Past President / Past Chief Adolph (Jr.) Poppe (current Fire Police 15-9A) suffered life threatening injuries from a fall and is currently in CCU at Christiana Hospital after under going emergency surgery for a bleed in his head. We are in continuous contact with (my) family and we ask once again for your prayers. We will be updating our web site once again with his condition, w hich I can say it not good.
And yesterday afternoon we were informed of the passing of our President Emeritus Harry Bright. President Emeritus Bright has served the Delaware City Fire Company for 70 years and was to be acknowledged in January at our Annual Awards Banquet. President Emeritus Bright served 14 consecutive years as President, served for many years as our Chief Engineer and Board of Director. He was recently honored with the "Community Award of Excellence" in July 2008 by the City of Delaware City during the Annual Delaware City Days Celebration. Our Public Information Officers are preparing our Media Release with Funeral Details sometime later today.
As you can see we are having a rough time at Delaware City. We wanted to thank all of you for your support and caring. We wanted to let all of you know wether you made a phone call, text message, voice mail, email, cover up, gave up your time to staff our apparatus, stopped to offer condolences or a much needed hug. WE THANK YOU!
We would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year.
Wally Poppe, President
Jamie Rosseel, Chief
Nancy Migliavacca, Ladies President
