LONDON, Ohio – A company that is trying to establish emergency services in London became the target of a firebomb.
The medical transport unit sustained damage after the alleged arson, 10TV’s Glenn McEntyre reported.
Kare Medical Transport started operating out of Madison County in June.
Investigators said the firebomb attack happened on Oct. 1 using a beer bottle that appeared to have some type of flammable liquid, McEntyre reported.
Mark Foster, London Fire Department Arson Investigator, found minor damage but the attack could have been worse.
“If that device would have [gone] through the window. The interior of the medic would have caught fire,” Foster said. “There’s a really good chance it
would have extended into the building, and you (have) people sleeping in there.”
Twelve days before the firebombing, investigators said someone broke into a different medical unit and stole about $40,000 in equipment and supplies, McEntyre reported.
Investigators have not yet determined if the two crimes were connected.
The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest of the culprit, McEntyre reported.
