The accident on the arterial, around the I-790 eastbound ramp to State Route 12 SB in Utica, happened during rush-hour traffic shortly after 4:30 yesterday afternoon.
Police now say the driver of the car, Joseph Bouse, has been ticketed for unsafe lane change.
According to a release, “Bouse stated that he had to maneuver in order to avoid a collision with [the ambulance], and in doing so, lost control of his vehicle, causing him to strike the rear passenger’s side of [the ambulance] with the front driver’s side of [Bouse’s vehicle]. Bouse stated that he then observer [the ambulance] spin out and then roll onto its side, coming to a stop on Rt. 12 SB just past the aforementioned ramp.”
Bouse reported that he hit his head, complaining of pain; however, he refused medical attention on the scene.
Both of the EMTs involved complained of shoulder and ankle pain. They were taken to a local hospital.
