A dump truck lost a wheel on Interstate 675 north that crossed the median and struck a southbound ambulance just north of Shattuck near the border of Saginaw and Carrollton townships about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Saginaw and Carrollton township police officials were not available for comment as of 12:30 p.m.
Saginaw Township and Carrollton Township fire crews and police were on scene, along with Mike’s Wrecker Service and Michigan Department of Transportation workers.
A red dump truck faced south in the northbound lanes with the insignia, "Ed Krupp, Chesaning" on the side.
It suffered damage to the front-passenger side of the vehicle.
The northbound lanes were closed temporarily because "there were a bunch of tools everywhere," Saginaw County Central Dispatch Director Tom McIntyre said.
