Police are on scene of an incident involving an EMS patient who exited an ambulance on Interstate 77 in Kanawha County on Friday.
Charleston police said a patient exited an ambulance and jumped off a bridge near Donnally Street. The person was pronounced dead.
Dispatchers said the incident was reported about 12:30 p.m. near mile marker 100 just before Leon Sullivan Way.
Police said the the person jumped out of the ambulance while it had slowed down in traffic.
The incident has temporarily closed the right two southbound lanes of the roadway, dispatchers said. Drivers should use caution in the area.
A spokesperson for the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority sent Eyewitness News the following statement:
