This afternoon in my town (Mechanicsburg, Pa, about 10 miles west of Harrisburg) an ambulance was responding to a class 1 call in town (they were going to assist another ambulance). As they were about 2 blocks away, the ambulance collided with minivan. As a result the ambulance (driver only) veered off into an embankment and nearly missed a tree. The van continued onto hit a sign and collide into a stone wall. The driver of the van was found to be in the passenger seat (believed to be not seatbelted) and pinned. There was also a 5 year child in the van who was restrained and had no injuries. She was out of the vehicle when crews arrived. There was an extended extrication on the minivan and in the end result she was flown to a local trama center. The ambulance driver was also transported to a trauma center but his injuries are unknown. Conditions on both patients are not known at this time. An accident reconstruction team from Cumberland County was called out by the police department.
