COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) is responding to an ambulance fire late Thursday afternoon.
The fire broke out inside an ambulance at Monterey Road and Lassen Drive, across from Monterey Elementary School.
CSFD reported that ambulance crews were on scene of a home for a medical emergency when it caught fire. They said they were able to safely pull the patient from the ambulance.
They said the fire grew quickly, and the ambulance is expected to be totaled.
Crews say they are thankful to have spotted the fire before they got in and began driving.
As of 5:15 p.m., investigators were on the way to the scene.
