CAHOKIA HEIGHTS, Ill. (First Alert 4) -The St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency reported there are “multiple injuries” in a crash involving a fire truck Saturday afternoon.
The agency reported the crash occurred on Route 3.
In a statement, Cahokia Heights Fire Department said the fire truck was responding to a call when it was involved in a three-car crash at around 1:10 p.m.
The preliminary information indicates that the fire truck was heading south on Route 3 when two cars heading north on Route 3 were in a crash.
The crash caused both cars to cross onto the southbound lanes, hitting the fire truck.
This caused the fire truck to roll over, and one firefighter was injured in the crash.
According to the Illinois State Police, the occupants injured were taken to an area hospital. The right southbound lane of Route 3 remains closed.
ISP says they responded to the scene shortly after 2 p.m.
