GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An emergency responder in Glens Falls is heading home following more than two months of care after being injured while responding to a fire call. Micki Guy, a member of Glens Falls Firefighters IAFF Local 2230, was released from Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital on Friday morning, her family confirmed with NEWS10.
Guy, 50, sustained severe head trauma after falling from a fire truck and hitting the pavement while departing for a fire operation on April 9. She was taken to Albany Medical Center, where she was initially listed in critical condition.
The Glens Falls firefighter and former military medic was transferred to Sunnyview to begin rehab in early May. According to Guy’s family, her recovery journey is still ongoing, but she’s progressed enough to be able to recuperate at home.
“She is at a point in her recovery where they feel she can do her therapy as an outpatient,” Guy’s family stated. “She still has a long road to recovery, but the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) floor of Sunnyview has been more than amazing, and have helped tremendously to get her to this point. Being home is how she will heal best.”
