Maine Explosion Video (The Secret List)

All,

The injured Maine Firefighters/EMS members and civilians continue to recover, and by all indications, it will be a slow battle. KTIYP’s
EXPLOSION VIDEO
This video has been shared by local media, as it was the property of Robbins Lumber and was shared with the area fire departments early on, so we are sharing it with you now.
In the coming months, once the reports from the Maine State Fire Marshal and NIOSH are released, there will be so much to learn. And that’s for all of us, as silos and related storage systems exist in Metro cities, industrial facilities, rural farms, and every community in between.

WHAT TO DO…OR NOT DO
Unrelated specifically to the tragic Maine incident, but in general, the one thing we have learned with silo, large bins, and related storage facility fires is to slow down and ensure a proper size up, as forcing entry, attempting to fight the fire, venting, etc., which we do daily on dwellings and structures, ARE OFTEN NOT THE RIGHT TACTIC for these fires.
A minimal sampling of just SOME of the size-up considerations for these incidents includes the type of silo, its age, its condition upon arrival, what is in the silo, and the conditions you are observing. There is much, much more.
We are attaching two documents that have been shared with us from noted experts in this specific area: https://rescuetechs.com/
We anticipate passing on much more information as it becomes available. However, sooner rather than later, please reach out to your state or an appropriate qualified training center, academy, or personnel for available local programs, or reach out to the Rescue Tech folks to ensure qualified education, training, and policy development for these types of jobs.

Take Care. Be Careful. Pass It On.
