HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Officials with the Black Township Fire and Rescue announced that a firefighter was injured after he was thrown from a truck he was operating while responding to a grass fire.
According to a post, units were dispatched to the grass fire along State Road 62 west of the State Road 69 bypass just before noon. Visibility in the area was limited by smoke, and officials say an SUV struck the left side of a fire engine as crews were engaged in suppressing the fire.
The firefighter operating the pump panel was thrown from the truck and onto the roadway. He reportedly sustained minor injuries.
Officials posted images of the damaged SUV to remind the public to be aware of their surroundings and slow down and use caution if they see emergency vehicles or deteriorating driving conditions.
