AMBULANCE, CAR COLLIDE IN NEW YORK

Batavia, NY (October 9, 2025) – A collision involving an ambulance and a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Liberty St and E Main St Thursday afternoon resulted in at least one reported injury and brought a swift response from local emergency services.

The incident occurred as Mercy ALS 7 was en route to a separate emergency at 102 Cedar St involving a reported gas odor in a residential building. While traveling through the busy downtown intersection, the ambulance and a civilian vehicle collided under yet-to-be-determined circumstances. Batavia City Fire quickly responded to the crash site alongside Mercy Medic 2.

According to initial reports from officers at the scene, a member of the ambulance crew sustained a minor injury in the impact. Emergency medical services evaluated those involved, and responders worked to secure the area and assess damage to both vehicles. Fortunately, no additional injuries were reported, and the other emergency call was reassigned to ensure uninterrupted response coverage.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, including whether lights and sirens were active at the time and how right-of-way dynamics may have played a role.
