FIREFIGHTER MAYDAY: THROUGH THE FLOOR IN GEORGIA

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – New reports are shedding light on how two Augusta firefighters were hurt last week while responding to a house fire.

It happened last Friday on Walker Street, with the fire eventually spreading to two other homes.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says a deceased male was found in the river on the 1800 block of Lock and Dam Road.

Reports now show that while inside the home, two firefighters fell through the floor and had to call a Mayday.

This means their circumstances were dire.

A Mayday is only called when a firefighter is trapped, injured and facing a life-threatening situation.

Thankfully, the two firefighters made it out alive, although both were hospitalized for burns.
