LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A medic suffered minor injuries in a Sunday night crash in North Las Vegas involving a pickup truck that rolled multiple times after colliding with an AMR ambulance.
A North Las Vegas spokesperson said the Jan. 19 crash at Cheyenne Avenue and Clayton Street resulted in minor injuries to people in three vehicles. After the collision, the eastbound Toyota Tacoma pickup rolled and collided with a Chevy Trax in the westbound lanes of Cheyenne.
The ambulance was driving northbound on Clayton Street when the collision occurred. Police said the pickup failed to stop at a red light. There were no patients in the ambulance at the time.
North Las Vegas police used the crash as an example to warn people of the dangers of drunk driving, posting a video on Facebook with images of the crash. The video is at the top of this article. “This devastating rollover involved one of our medics, a first responder who dedicates their life to saving others,” the Facebook post said.
The driver of the Tacoma was transported to UMC Trauma with minor injuries and was arrested for driving under the influence, according to police. The driver’s name was not immediately available.
Police urged motorists to “STOP Driving Drunk. Lives Are at Stake.”
