FIREFIGHTER RECEIVES ELECTRICAL SHOCK AT SCENE OF TRAILER FIRE – MISSOURI

WILLARD, Mo. (KY3) – A Willard Fire Protection District firefighter was shocked while responding to a trailer fire in rural Greene County.

According to the Ebenezer Fire Protection District, several departments responded to the North Farm Road 115 fire at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When firefighters arrived, they found no one was home, and the trailer was fully engulfed. Officials say that somehow, the entire structure got electrically charged, and when a firefighter touched it, he was shocked. Officials say, thankfully, he was not seriously hurt. The electric company responded to shut the power off to the trailer, and firefighters were able to get the fire contained.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

From the Willard Fire Protection District Facebook Page:

We supplied mutual aid on a fire in Ebenezer’s district last night.
One of our firefighters picked up a piece of metal trailer skirting in an attempt to clear debris and was shocked. He was wearing his turn out gear which provided insulation and is doing fine. He was evaluated by paramedics on scene and was not transported to the hospital. He will be re-evaluated today as a precaution. He compared the shock to that of grabbing ahold of a cattle wire.
