From the Collings Lakes Fire Department Facebook Page:
Yesterday afternoon, Collings Lakes Fire Department units operated on a motor vehicle crash on the Black Horse Pike. While operating on that incident and blocking the eastbound side of the Black Horse Pike due to a pole and wires down across the highway, Squad 12-31 was struck at high speed by a vehicle.
Very luckily, there were no injuries to CLFD personnel or the driver of the striking vehicle. The Squad has extensive damage and will be out of service indefinitely.
We would like to take this opportunity to strongly advise motorists, when approaching emergency scenes, to slow down and move over to keep emergency personnel safe. This is the second incident of a first responder vehicle strike in the last month on the Black Horse Pike. Both could have very easily turned out much worse.
