According to the Prince William Professional Firefighters Facebook Page:
Early this morning, while arriving at the scene of a vehicle accident on Interstate 95, Engine 23 was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle failed to follow the Move Over & Slow Down Law and was subsequently cited for their actions.
Members were just beginning to exit the Engine when it was struck. Luckily, there were no injuries but this is a very real reminder of the dangers our members face while operating on emergency scenes.
We have said this before and will continue to say it:
MOVE OVER & SLOW DOWN when you see emergency vehicles operating on the roadways. It’s not only the law, it’s the right thing to do. #Local2598
