Two firefighters suffered minor injuries Tuesday morning while fighting a blaze at a vacant three-story building in the 2300 block of Virginia Avenue.
One of the firefighters was taken to a hospital for treatment. The other was treated at the scene by paramedics. It wasn’t immediately clear what kind of injuries they had suffered.
Flames were spotted coming from the second and third-floor windows before 8 a.m. At one point, commanders ordered firefighters to evacuate the building and fight the fire from outside.
The fire was under control at about 8:40 a.m.
