Ambulance strikes tree, $50,000 in damages – Florida

A Lifeguard Ambulance on its way to a crash left the road and went into a culvert, injuring the two passengers.

Clayton Miller, 34, of Milton, was driving the 2007 Chevrolet Ambulance at 7:55 p.m. north on Munson Highway near Womack Road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The ambulance went around a curve and the right front tire left the roadway, a report said.

Miller was unable to get control of the vehicle before it traveled over two raised driveways, went into a culvert and came to rest with its "nose in the ground," said Jason Kimbrell, the regional director or operations.

Miller and his passenger, 40-year-old Pace resident Greggory Lawler, were both wearing seat belts. Miller was taken to West Florida Hospital. Lawler was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital.

The ambulance sustained around $50,000 in damages.

No charges were listed.
