One of the most difficult calls that we encounter as first responders are calls involving children. The stress level seems to intensify the younger they are with infants possibly being the most difficult. Their inability to communicate their issues makes treatment sometimes a guess.
The struggle intensifies when the end result is a loss of life, regardless if it occurs prior to our arrival on the scene, as is the case in most of our SIDS responses. It is hoped that this informational video produced by Safe Call Now, in conjunction with SIDS alliance, may be beneficial as an educational tool for first responders or as information for our fire service family members who have lost a child.
