The Phoenix Fire Department has experienced four firefighter suicides within the past seven months, beginning with the death of Firefighter Shaun Johnson on December 5, 2009. Since then the Phoenix Fire Department has implemented several changes in their mental health support program in an effort to help firefighters in distress.
