Data
Sought Regarding Firefighter Suicides

Counseling Services For Firefighter’s (CSFF) mission is to offer behavioral
health support to firefighters; train senior fire officers and educate
clinicians on the benefits of understanding the life and emotions of firefighters.
As part of that mission the collection of data regarding firefighter suicides
is critical. Below please review the information as to reason and intent and if
so inclined please supply the data requested directly.

National Data Reporting
System- Firefighter Suicide Report

In order for Counseling Services for Fire Fighters (CSFF) to be able to serve
the needs of the fire service family, the more information we can gather on the
firefighter suicide mechanism for pro-active training, the better.  By
gathering as much information as we can, we can provide a profile that helps
identify at-risk firefighters before this tragedy strikes.  This
information has proven to be an invaluable tool for the police service. This
form has been graciously given to CSFF to use from Robert E. Douglas, Jr. of
the National P.O.L.I.C.E. Suicide Foundation. Its use has proven to be beneficial
due to the anonymity of the person or department submitting the
information.  CSFF respects the privacy of the survivors and will never
release any names of suicide victims unless written permission is granted and
its use is solely for the purpose of teaching suicide awareness in CSFF
workshops.  Please visit our website for suicide reporting at the
