FIREFIGHTER INJURED IN KY DOUBLE HOUSE FIRE

Firefighters in Dayton, Kentucky needed two hours to put out a fire that damaged two homes on Wednesday morning. One firefighter was hurt and two families now need a place to stay.

five people in that house say they awoke to flames shooting out of the laundry room. The flames, fueled by the old timbers and high winds, jumped to a neighboring house where one woman had to be rescued.

Southgate Firefighter Jason Smith was injured when a flaming piece of the roof fell onto him. He was dragged out of the house by his fellow firefighters but was able to walk to the truck on his own and moments later was back fighting the blaze.

Fire crews declared the structures too unstable and began fighting the fire from outside. Five frozen fire hydrants hindered their efforts.
