An ambulance from Walker County collided head-on with a car on U.S. 27 near Armuchee High School Wednesday evening, injuring four people, including a patient in the ambulance, police said.

According to Trooper First Class Rick Ceballos:

The ambulance was traveling south on U.S. 27 when it crossed into the northbound lanes, striking a Kia Optima.

The driver was not using lights or sirens.

“The driver can’t remember what happened,” Ceballos said. “Eyewitnesses said he just went into the other lane.”

The driver, the other emergency medical technician and the patient in the ambulance were taken to the hospital.

A passenger in the Kia was also taken to the hospital.

None of the injuries were life threatening, Ceballos said.

All of the names involved in the wreck on U.S. 27 were not released Wednesday night.
