A mother and her two children, who were being pulled in a wagon, were struck by a fire truck Wednesday morning in Libertyville, police said.
The mother was attempting to cross the street with her children who were riding in a wagon about 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Milwaukee and Cook avenues, according to a spokesman for the Libertyville Police Department.
A fire truck, traveling at a slow rate of speed tried to make a right turn, police said. As the driver inched forward into the crosswalk, he did not see the mother or the children she was pulling in a wagon.
The truck knocked over the wagon and struck the mother, police said. The mother screamed and the driver immediately stopped the truck, police said.
The mother and the children were taken to an area hospital for treatment. There was no immediate information available about their conditions.
The driver of the fire truck was cited for failing to obey a traffic signal, police said.
