FREMONT — Police say they have suspects in the stolen ambulance case that happened early Sunday morning.
An ambulance was stolen while parked in the 1400 block of Cherry Street as paramedics tended to a patient in a residence.
Fremont Police Officer George Dorsey said officers didn’t notice anything missing in the ambulance as far as medication. He wasn’t able to comment any further on the case Tuesday afternoon.
Fremont police officers along with the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office and the Fremont post of the Ohio Highway Patrol checked the area that morning for Life Squad 17, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
According to a police report, about 9:17 a.m. — a couple hours after the vehicle was reported stolen — a resident on Bloom Road called 911 and advised that there was an ambulance parked in a field behind 1090 Bloom Road.
Officers went to the address and found the ambulance stuck in the mud. They called for assistance to have it pulled out.
