We had a structure fire reported by PD at around 1130 today after a domestic problem. We responded and upon leaving one engine advised smoke from about a mile away. Upon arrival it was full involved and as a Lou spraying water from a 1 3/4" line as crew was suiting up. As he handed the line off to a crew member as they could now make an interior attack as it was still structal sound. He had a hot liquid land on his left check and start burning. He was on his way to mask up to go in. Right before the liquid hit him he heard a small explosion. He did not notice it right off the bat and went in to do fire attack. He did not think much of it. Felt as if his mask was just hot as if he had been in the fire awhile. There was also a civilian pt. Transported. The officer was sent to the hospital and released. No perment injury just a close call.
