ROOF CREW TRAPPED AND THEN RESCUED IN NEW YORK

2 Syracuse firefighters were hospitalized after operating at an overnight fire. The fire started around 11:30 p.m. and Syracuse firefighters arrived to find all three floors of the home in flames. The 2 Firefighters were hurt cutting a hole in the roof after they realized their escape route was blocked by fire. Luckily, they were not seriously injured. Officials said they practice for situations like this.

Deputy Fire Chief Bill Mitson said, "We’re constantly training for situations where someone might be trapped and we have a mayday plan that goes into effect when we have people that either trapped or maybe cut off by fire or what have you. You hope you never have to kick those things in, but we did tonight and we were able to get them off of the roof fairly quickly."

People were in the home when the fire started, but everyone got out safely. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
