Jake Garner, 23, was driving a white Chrysler Sebring that collided with a Lufkin EMS ambulance at the intersection of Angelina College Drive and Highway 59 south
Garner pulled over at Crown Colony Food Mart, off the highway, where police tended to him. The man was taken by stretcher to Woodland Heights Medical Center. Police said he had a large red bump on his head and was complaining of neck pains.
A woman at the scene, who said she knows the man, talked to him before he was taken by ambulance.
"He got out of his car and started saying that an ambulance had just hit him at the red light and that his mom wasn’t going to believe him because he was driving her car," said the woman, who declined to give her name.
Scanner reports stated the ambulance was carrying a patient from a car wreck in Diboll. Police could not verify that the ambulance was the same ambulance transporting a patient from the earlier wreck
