EMT Dies in Line of Duty – Pennsylvania

By Bob Manning

BRADY TOWNSHIP, HUNTINGDON COUNTY – An EMT was killed Saturday morning in Huntingdon County after the ambulance he was riding in crashed. It happened on Rt. 22 in Brady Township near Mapleton.

The ambulance was returning from a routine patient transport around 6:30 Saturday morning when the driver lost control and an EMT that was riding in the ambulance was thrown part of the way out of the vehicle.

Ethan Lynn Amsbaugh moved to Mount Union six months ago to work as an EMT, His co-workers say he was playful and spirited and would do any thing you asked him to do.

Saturday’s crash was the first time someone from the Mount Union Fire Department was killed while on the job.  But it’s not the first time they’ve had to hang black mourning ribbons after losing one of their own.

Two Mount Union firefighters died in a crash two years ago and a third one killed in a crash back in 2006. Each loss, they say, only gets harder, but they’re coming together as a family.
