Three firefighters suffered injuries in a blast at a Monroe business on Wednesday afternoon.
Crews
from Monroe, Middletown, Franklin, Deerfield, Turtlecreek and Liberty
Townships were called to Deceuninck North America on New Garver Road,
just before 2 p.m. for a piece of equipment on fire. It happened in a
part of the building which produces artificial wood decking. A dust
explosion is behind the injuries-the blast happened inside a 5000 gallon
hopper.
One firefighter suffered moderate burns and was taken
to Miami Valley Hospital. Two firefighters suffered hearing impairment
and headaches and were taken to Atrium Medical Center.
