A woman has been hospitalized with burns after an early morning Saturday fire at 1695 Pennsylvania Ave. in Pine City.
Webbs Mills Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jason Halm said the firefighters were called to the woman’s home around 4:15 a.m. and found the house fully engulfed by flames.
The woman had two guests inside the home, and they made it outside safely, although she was still trapped inside when firefighters arrived, Halm said.
Firefighters rescued the woman, who was taken to Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, and then sent to Strong Memorial Hospital’s burn unit in Rochester.
Halm did not release the woman’s name, but said she was in satisfactory condition at the hospital.
Webbs Mills firefighters were helped by Pine City, Southport and Wellsburg fire departments in New York, and Millerton and Daggett fire departments in Pennsylvania.
Fire investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire at the rented home, Halm said.
Insurance investigators are expected to come to the home Monday, he said.
