A Lebanon Rural Fire Protection District firefighter was injured Monday while she was assisting another department battle a natural cover fire.

The Lebanon Rural department was called to a natural cover fire on Route D near the Camden County line where the Eldridge Fire Protection District was already fighting the fire. At about 7 p.m., the Lebanon Rural firefighter fell down a steep, 8-foot embankment and injured her right knee, according to Dustin Britzman, Lebanon Rural fire chief.

The Laclede County Office of Emergency Management and an ambulance from Camden County were called to assist. The firefighter had to be carried a quarter of a mile to the ambulance before being transported to Lake Regional Hospital in Camdenton, according to Britzman.
