A Casa Grande man has been arrested and charged with third degree burglary after stealing several items from a Pinal County Fire Department fire truck, police said.
Daniel Schmidt, who claims he was drunk at the time of the theft, took photos of himself wearing a stolen fire helmet. It didn’t stop there though, he then text messaged the pictures to several acquaintances and posted them to his Facebook account, acknowledging the theft.
When police distributed fliers of the person they were searching for someone called the fire department and said they knew Schmidt was responsible.
Other items taken included four radios, two pick-head axes and a flashlight. The total value of the items was around $1,600. So far all but two radios have been returned
