Man spit on officer, tried to hit medic – Arizona

A Glendale man was taken to the Fourth Avenue Jail this week after increasingly violent behavior around the city, including spitting on a police officer and trying to hit a medic, according to court documents.

Juan Gomez, 34, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault to an officer, aggravated assault to an EMT, narcotic drug possession and disorderly conduct on Wednesday.

Police have come into contact with Gomez recently due to problems he has caused around the city. The number of incidents he has been involved in is “far above the average for drug use and criminal activity related situations,” the document stated.

On Wednesday, Gomez entered a business near 67th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Glendale. He reportedly got aggressive with employees and was hitting counters and tables while screaming. Some customers got up and left because Gomez was acting so erratically, the document stated.

After police arrived, Gomez reportedly tried to punch an ambulance medic and spit in the face of a police officer. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for methamphetamine use.

Gomez was taken to the Glendale police station after he was released from the hospital. He continued to be disruptive by yelling. Police transported him to the Fourth Avenue jail for processing because of his erratic actions, the report stated.

He was attested on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and possession of narcotics from an incident that took place June 8.

Gomez has served about 10 years in prison for previous convictions of theft, contraband and theft of a means of transportation.
