UPDATE: IL LODD AT OPERA HOUSE FIRE

22-year-old Duquoin firefighter Corey Shaw passed away due to injuries received while battling a fire that consumed an antique mall and opera house in Pinckneyville, Illinois. He was on a ladder fighting the fire when a wall from the antique mall collapsed onto him. He was first taken to a Pinckneyville hospital then flown to a St. Louis hospital for treatment. Pinckneyville is about 70 miles southeast of St. Louis, MO.

Fire crews were still working on putting out the blaze six hours after the flames broke out. The owner of one of the buildings that went up in flames tells me he and his family had just minutes to get out.

Illinois Investigators say the flames started in the back part of a building known as the antique mall. The fire quickly spread to rest of the antique mall then to an old opera house attached to the same building. The fire broke out just after 3pm.
