Ambulance and lorry crash on A9 after hitting fallen trees – UK

By Mike Farrell

An ambulance and lorry smashed on the A9 in Perthshire after trees were blown down during stormy weather.

The crash happened shortly after 1pm on Monday on the road between Greenloaning and the Balhaldie services. It is believed several trees fell onto the road southbound.

An ambulance transport vehicle collided into the trees, before a HGV travelling behind ploughed into it.

A Tayside Police spokesman confirmed there had been no reports of serious injuries to those involved, while Tayside Fire and Rescue were also in attendance to try and clear the road.

The A9 southbound was closed due to the fallen trees, with motorists advised to use an alternative route, before it reopened again around 4pm.

High speed wind battered the area throughout Monday, with Tayside Police receiving dozens of reports of fallen trees blocking roads.
