A firefighter is recovering from second and third-degree burns he suffered in a blaze early Tuesday morning on the Columbus, OH’s northeast side.
The fire happened at about 1:30 a.m. at a home on Arbury Court.
A couple sleeping in the house was awakened by smoke detectors and escaped without injury. Firefighters were battling the fire when one of them, Lt. Gary Moore, became trapped in an upstairs bedroom. Other firefighters managed to get him out, but not before he suffered burns to his face.
"My face was burning, as you can tell," Moore said. "I was just screaming and my crew came in and got me out."
