Eight people, two of them paramedics, were hurt this morning in a four-vehicle collision on the Far South Side that included the paramedics’ ambulance.
All the victims were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The crash happened a little after 11 a.m. at West 103rd and South Morgan Streets in the Washington Heights neighborhood.
Heading east on 103rd, the ambulance was en route to an emergency call with its lights and siren activated when it was hit by a vehicle heading north on Morgan, said Chicago Fire Department Chief Joe Roccasalva. The collision caused the ambulance to hit two other vehicles, he said.
The victims were taken to Roseland Community Hospital, MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island and Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers in Evergreen Park.
