Several Flint firefighters were hurt while battling a fire on the city’s east side.
The fire started around 11:30 Friday night in a home near Broadway Boulevard and Lyman Street.
Neighbors believed the homeowner was inside, so firefighters rushed in to save that person.
A number of firefighters were injured, including Gerald Hunt, who
suffered significant injuries. Fire investigators say he was trapped on
the second floor and had to jump out of a window to safety.
A total of seven firefighters were injured, including two from the county.
Soon after firefighters arrived on scene, the homeowner showed up and no one was in the home at the time of the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
