Four Columbus firefighters were injured after a reportedly stolen car crashed into the engine they were riding on Monday afternoon. The crash occurred around 3 p.m. at the intersection of 11th Avenue and Essex Avenue near the Ohio State Fairgrounds. The vehicle, which was believed to have been stolen, had multiple teenagers inside and crashed into the engine, causing four firefighters who were on the engine to be taken to an area hospital. Battalion Chief Jeff Geitter said all the firefighters were in stable condition. The engine suffered moderate damage, Geitter said. Initial scanner traffic from police indicated the crash may have involved “Kia Boys” and several of them fled from the vehicle on foot. Multiple firearms were recovered, according to police. The crash remains under investigation.
