Three Winnipeg paramedics were slightly injured when a car slammed into their ambulance Saturday night and fled the scene.
Police said at 10 p.m. CT, the ambulance was headed north on Pembina Highway near Clarence Avenue when a white Chevy Impala struck it.
At the time of the collision, the ambulance was taking a patient to hospital, police said.
The Impala’s driver was not yielding to the ambulance, which had its lights and sirens on, police said. Both vehicles initially stopped after the crash, but the Impala soon vanished from the scene, police said.
While the ambulance driver wasn’t hurt, three paramedics, aged 22, 36 and 41, were treated in hospital and released. Police didn’t say whether the patient being transported was injured in the crash.
The ambulance sustained only minor damage, police said. The Impala, however, is likely to have a "significant" dent on the driver’s side rear quarter-panel, police said. They said they believe the car is either a 2006 or 2007.
Police are asking the car’s driver to come forward and report the incident.
