Horrible news out of Tennessee as the Shackle Island Fire Department (NE of Nashville) is grieving the loss of a 2-year-old boy, the son of a Firefighter, following an accidental shooting at the fire station yesterday afternoon.
Initial details are that the Firefighter was at the station with his 2-year-old son. At some point, the father and son became separated and somehow the toddler gained entry into a vehicle and located a firearm, a 9 mm pistol. The weapon discharged and the child was shot around the sternum area. The boy was first taken to the Hendersonville Hospital and then LifeFlighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Tragically all efforts to save his life were unsuccessful. CISM teams are working with all involved. More details to follow.
Our condolences go out to everyone involved.
