In the UK, a West Midlands Ambulance Service technician tragically died in the Line of Duty yesterday morning. Medic Jeremy Daw had worked for the ambulance service for 30 years and had returned to his post to help with the coronavirus crisis.
The Daw and his partner were responding on an emergency call around 0800 hours when an object struck the ambulance’s windshield. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, nothing could be done to save our colleague, who was the front passenger, and he was confirmed dead at the scene. Additionally his crewmate, the driver, was also injured in the incident. He has received treatment at hospital and has subsequently been discharged. Police are investigating how and why an object struck the ambulance. Our condolences to all those affected.
CARRIBEAN FIREFIGHTER DIES IN THE LINE OF DUTY
Antigua and Barbuda Firefighter David Roberts died in the Line of Duty on Friday night at the Mount St John’s Medical Centre. The Firefighter, who was involved in a crash on April 6, 2021 at the V.C Bird International Airport was admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit until the time of his death.
Firefighter/Constable Roberts last worked at the Coolidge Fire Station and was part of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda for the past 11 years.
The fire apparatus that Roberts was driving became inoperable for a yet to be determined reason, causing the vehicle to accelerate at a high speed, before crashing through the airport fence and overturning in a ditch close to Burma Road on the southern side of the runway.
Antigua and Barbuda is an independent Commonwealth country comprising its two namesake islands and several smaller ones and is positioned where the Atlantic and Caribbean oceans meet.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will be directed to the family to cover end-of-life expenses and the remainder will be directed to Chase & Olivia’s College Funds as Trevor’s one wish was to ensure his family would be taken care of and his kids’ college would be handled.
Our condolences to the Herderhorst and CFD Family.
