We regret to pass on that 2 Firefighting Pilots with Precision Aerospace were killed in the Line of Duty yesterday (Sunday) afternoon when their helicopter crashed while fighting the Dome Fire inside Yosemite National Park.
The pilots’ identities had not been released.
The Federal Aviation Administration said a Eurocopter AS32 crashed near Mariposa at about 2:55 p.m. during firefighting operations.
The Dome Fire began Sept. 15 and had grown to more than 3,000 acres by Sunday afternoon. It was 15% contained.
Our condolences to all those affected. Rest in peace.
