In Michigan, a 15-year-old girl died last night around 2315 hours, in a crash involving a fire apparatus on I-94 in Ypsilanti.
A Ypsilanti Fire Department apparatus was operating at an earlier rollover accident when a Ford Escape slammed into the back of the fire truck. The truck was blocking a lane of traffic to protect police and emergency personnel.
The personal vehicle was driven by 34-year-old Charles Horn, and Horn’s 15-year-old rear passenger, his daughter’s friend, died at the hospital. Horn and his 15-year-old daughter are in critical condition.
The truck was unoccupied at the time of the crash and no firefighters were injured. The crash remains under investigation.
