We know that you track the close calls, which is an important lesson to all firefighters, however, on the good side, I’d like to report that my department, Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills, (Cape Cod, MA.) had a five alarm marina fire. With more than:
110 firefighters on scene,
multiple hazards and exposures (the main building was 600′ X 80′) with others of similar size,
marine units in operation,
multiple deck guns, and you-name-it, we are happy to report as the Shift commander that as of this time we had no injuries to civilians or any firefighters.
ICS, accountability, and communications worked well.
Our estimated loss is in the millions but its great to report good news sometimes.
